Today I’m going to write about blog backlinks and specially how you can make them totally free. Generating traffic without backlinks isn’t a good idea.

What are backlinks and how may I profit from them?

First of all we’ll start with the definition of backlink. Backlinks are incoming links to your website. The amount of websites linking to your website affects to your position in Google. For example, if you’d make a post on your blog with the keyword “Karl Marx” (No, im not a communist), it most certainly would not appear in google for the keyword “Karl Marx”. The amount of backlinks to your site propably would’t be enough. I’m not an SEO expert and so I won’t talk on the other matters, that will put your site to top 1 in google, but the amount of backlinks is only one factor. However I’ve found it to be the most effective way to improve your sites pagerank and get you google traffic. By getting a lot of backlinks in your website, google bots find out how popular your website is and ranks you.

Be aware that it’s not only the amount of backlinks that count but the quality. A backlink in PR6 site would most definetely be more useful than in a PR1 site. There are also type of links that won’t count. Those are called “nofollow” links. Basically they have  an attribute in them, that makes search engines not consider them as links. Many blog commenting systems use the nofollow system. Some though not. Consider on “dofollow” links, which are the opposite.

How to actually build blog backlinks?
There are several ways, but the most easy way is something I call the “natural way”. Basicly build so good content that your readers will be fascinated about this content. In time they will start to link to your website. Be a god damnit good writer. That’ll give you tracebacks and backlinks. If you liked this post, backlink me for example.

Second way is tho snoop around and check forums and blogs with dofollow in you’re content area. These will increase your placement in google. Put your link to your signature, comment or where ever you can fit it.

Third way is social media. I’m not though an social media expert either, but I do generate a good deal of traffic from Facebook for example. Put your link as your homepage there, make updates in your profile containing your link, ask your friends to promote it. Create a group to your blog with the link etc.

Write articles and submit them to article websites like EzineArticles. Those will eventually generate you traffic and reputation. If you’re content is good, you’ll success.

Add your blog to Digg.com and similar services. Create posts expressing your sites content etc.

Go to webmaster forums and beg for help. I’ve found this to work. Actually I’m generating quite a nice amount of traffic for “asking help” with your blog or website. Create imaginary problems and let people help you with them, this could get you more traffic and in best cases active readers, which will comment.

Make friends. I’ve found the most best way to create backlinks to have friends of webmasters. Ask your friends to put you a link to their website. Sometimes they might do that without asking even.

1. Submit your blogs articles to Digg.com and Stumbleupon. Ask your friends to digg you. This should boost your traffic!

2. Submit to social media like twitter, facebook etc. Tell your friends about your website.

3. Find forums from the area of your blog, start posting there, put your link to your signature. Try to make advertisement posts for it.

4. Start collecting an email list in your blog. Tell you’re launching something special or a news letter, once you’ve got your readers emails, just email them and they’ll come back to you. Nice way to sustain traffic.

5. Submit your site to directories. You’ll be surprised how much traffic this can actually generate you.

Bulk writing is meant usually for chinese and indians, but you can do it as well. Bulk writing means basicly writing as much as possible in a short time. Usually the payment isn’t very good. Stick with professional and specially with academic writing, if you want to make good money per article. But if you’re very fast to write, then feel free to try your bulk writing skills. It’s the word count which counts in it.

Reviews are usually product or website reviews. Usually you need to make some research like use the product etc. before writing as they will not convince anybody either.

– And the list could continue forever. After you’ve created your portfolio, it’s time to get you a project. You can search for projects in any of the sites below. Try approaching with a well-written ad-letter to the publish with your portfolio and you’ll get projects.

Getafreelancer.com is one of the best websites to search for projects. It has everything from forum posting, ebook writing to academic writing.

Elance.com is definetely one of the largest websites and it has pretty good interface. It’s my personal favorite.

Guru.com offers perhaps the most well-paid jobs in the area. I’ve seen so large amounts been paid in guru for projects, that i’m stunned. Develop yourself as a professional writer and you can hit the top someday.

Content writing is a very good way to earn some money. Content writing means basicly that you write whatever the buyer wants. For example articles, blog posts and other sort of texts. This way is more reliable but often doesn’t pay very well. You CAN and WILL make some money by surfing the best incentives sites. Some will ask you to register for a site, some to just click an ad etc.

Email reading

Some sites offer you money for reading their sent email. I suggest you to make a new “spam-email” for yourself and register with it to many email sites. Then start readíng emails and clicking the link they ask to! That can make you almost 0,01$/email. Imagine you’d read a 100 email by minute. 1$ in a minute, not bad!

Blogging

Blogging can be a very effective way to earn money. Get a webhost, install wordpress, register to adsense and start earning! I’ll write later more specify information how to do this! And how to get traffic to your blog.

Referral/Affiliate programs

There are many referral/affiliate programs, which will pay you for getting them customer. Those are a good way to make a living, not just extra income. Let’s imagine you’d sell product X and get paid for a one sale 60$, 100 sales would make you 600$, 500 would make you 3000$!
